From its foundation in 1882 our company has been located in Lemmer in Friesland, one of the northern provinces of the Netherlands.
Lemmer is located at the IJsselmeer, a big lake which used to be an open sea (the Zuiderzee) until in 1932 it was dammed off
by the completion of the Afsluitdijk. Until then, Lemmer was a fishing port,
which provided Gerardus Johannes Sterk’s company with fresh fish every day.
Nowadays we get our fresh fish from Urk, one of the bigger fishing ports in the Netherlands, which is very close to Lemmer.
Next to that, we process frozen fish from sources all over the world.
